The writer in me

Have you ever desired to say something and you didn’t have all the words to do it?

Writing became a passion of mine several years ago, actually back in High School I started writing but some unkind people made me stop writing. I started writing to express all the thoughts roaming in my head in my encounters with God. It wasn’t really journaling, more like lessons God was showing me. I began to undestand scripture better and would actually loose hours in the process. I studied God’s Word and wrote.

I even started this blog. This blog became a passion for me in its early stages. I felt a connection with God and the pieces He inspired me to write. Until comparison and bitterness destroyed the passion I felt. I stopped writing and withdrew. I played on my phone more. I isolated, dwelling on some negative personal events that caused some of the issues. I prayed to write again, but God seemed silent. One night I asked God “Did I give up on You, Lord?” His answer was immediate, “No, you gave up on yourself.”

I have created Facebook posts without blogging over the last few years, but today I am taking a moment to write, Actually typing out a blog that is personal.

The writer faces a frustrating existence, blank pages do not magically fill because they desire them to. Grammar doesn’t correct itself (as much as I would like that). No, the writer must start somewhere, and that has been my issue. I failed to start, I gave up before typing the first word,

“And they have defeated him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.” Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬. I failed to share my daily, weekly, or even my monthly testimony in my blog. I was selfishly isolating myself.

God has gifted me with the ability to covey thoughts in a way that HE uses for His purpose. So today, I am turning over a new leaf. I am setting my phone aside, taking to the computer and writing, My project is a devotional. My testimony will be woven in each devotion as will HIS. God gave me the name of this blog site, just like He gave me the gift of words.

What’s your testimony? How do you use it to encourage others?
